As part of its local social responsibility activities, Eco.Impresa renewed its support for “Maggio Musicale Salentino”, the music festival now in its 14th year involved in spreading music and the arts and amplifying the excellence of Salento, the “heel of Italy”, through its artists.
The festival was entirely free and took place in the Teatro Paisiello in Lecce on 7 and 8 May. The first evening was dedicated to the Ensemble Concentus, now celebrating its 30-year anniversary, with a show entitled “Viaggio amoroso: Il tema dell'amore nei canti e nelle musiche di danza tra Rinascimento e primo Seicento", which explored the love theme in Renaissance–early 17th century song and dance music. The second show saw pianist Alessandro Rubichi and, later, the duo Francesco Negro (piano) and Gabriele Di Franco (guitar) on stage with “Synolon”, their latest work, with theatre interludes by Salvatore Cosentino.
The festival is organised by the Aulos cultural association and was backed this year by the Patents and Trademarks Office of the Ministry of Economic Development. In past editions the festival has been under the patronage of the President of the Council of Ministers, the City of Lecce, the Province of Lecce, the “Tito Schipa” Music Conservatory and the University of Salento.
