LET’S CHOOSE PREVENTION!
The initiative by the Riccoboni Group for cardiac screening
“Let’s choose prevention!” This is the Riccoboni Group’s commitment to employee health. This year, the Riccoboni Group took part in World Heart Day’s “Use heart for every heart”, which demonstrates the importance of ensuring equal access to care, environmental protection and personal well-being, while combating cardiovascular risk factors that we can all change.
During the weeks of 21 to 25 October and from 11 to 15 November, a mobile clinic run by AMC Mobility per il Sociale from Castellazzo Bormida (AL) visited our main offices and worksites offering a free cardiac screening, which was taken up by 150 employees, including 39 women.
This mobile healthcare unit started in Predosa at the Grassano Spa facility and then went on to the Riccoboni Spa offices in Parma, after which it travelled to the Eni plant in Ravenna, before continuing on to Ostuni to the Eco. Impresa srl facility. Two Eni plants then welcomed the free cardiac screening in Taranto and Pomezia. The tour finished in Collesalvetti in the Province of Livorno.
A cardiac screening examination is a procedure carried out as a form of prevention in people who have never suffered from cardiovascular disease (primary prevention) or who have already experienced cardiovascular issues in the past (secondary prevention).
The purpose of this examination, first of all, is to check whether people’s cardiovascular medical situation has any risk factors or not (hypertension, diabetes, smoking, dyslipidaemia or a family history of heart disease); secondly, it is to assess the medical conditions of patients having already suffered from heart disease and to put additional measures in place to prevent potential relapses.
The examination involves collecting medical information, taking an electrocardiogram and auscultation. The information collected will help draw clinical conclusions which could, if necessary, lead to further tests or recommended treatments.
“The well-being of employees at work also involves them being in a good state of health”, explained Angelo Riccoboni, the President and CEO of Riccoboni Holding. “Every year, we allow our employees to undergo voluntary screenings because we believe that prevention helps anticipate a diagnosis, leading to a better prognosis or simply adjusting their lifestyles”.
